Respecting CFEclipse

It took a while, but I may finally be a believer in the Eclipse/CFEclipse combo.

When I've tried it in the past, I've honestly found it bewildering at best. I'd scratch my head, trying to figure out how to perform basic tasks, how to adapt my existing workflow to the new tool, and so on... it just seemed like way too much work for too little return.

But now, using Eclipse 3.01 and CFEclipse 1.1, things are different. It seems like I can do 95% of the things I was doing in Homesite or Dreamweaver, but with a smaller memory footprint and far, far more stability.

I've also discovered a couple little things that I love about Eclipse, stuff that just fits perfectly with the way I work. The task management stuff, for example, has been sent down from heaven, just to make me happy.

Even better are bookmarks that jump me to a specific line of code. JournURL's built around a homebrew combo of FB2 and CFCs, so I've got a few big-ass <cfswitch>es that are a pain to navigate, particularly when I'm debugging. But with Eclipse, I just set a bookmark for the fuseaction I'm fiddling with, and no amount of scrolling or document switching can get me lost. Pure bliss.

Yeah, I know that's minor stuff to most people. Things like snippets, code views, and keyboard shortcuts have never impressed me much... I just don't use 'em. Fortunately, it looks like Eclipse and CFEclipse have matured to the point that it can make all kinds of people happy, even weirdos like me.
